Rex Coffey, 84, of Purdy, Missouri went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Tuesday January 30, 2018 while at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in Purdy on April 27, 1933; the son of the late Furline Frank and Myrtle Marie (Marbut) Coffey. He was united in marriage on January 31, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma to Patty Larkin; she preceded him in death on September 12, 2004.
He was a retired diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking, transportation director for the Purdy School District and served on the Purdy City Council. He was a veteran of the United States Army and attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Purdy, Missouri.
Rex is survived by one son: Gary Coffey of Loma Linda, Missouri; four daughters: Linda Hall-Bowerman of Miller, Vickie Hayward of Republic, Pamela Coffey of Purdy and Kala Bailie of Aurora; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Rex is being held on Saturday February 3, 2018 from 12:30p.m. to 2:30p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett, Missouri with Rev. Russ Neill officiating. Burial will follow services at the Purdy Cemetery.
Memorial donations for Rex may be made to the Purdy Schools.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
