William R. Cumpton, 71, Diamond, MO, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home with his wife and children by his side. William Robert Cumpton was born March 29, 1946 in Clovis, NM to the late William Perry Cumpton and Katherine (Jones/Khrishanda) Cumpton. William married Kathren Eillene Trower on June 30, 1962 in Farwell, TX. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years most recently at Joplin Concrete, Joplin, MO.
Survivors include his wife Eillene, one daughter, Shirley Hickerson (Carl), Diamond, MO; two sons, William Lee Cumpton (Caroline), Diamond, MO, and Lonnie Cumpton (Christina), Greenville, WI; two brothers, Greg Hines (Chris), Albuquerque, NM, and Jerry Clewis of Indiana; one sister, Diane Peterson (Allen), Mule Shoe, TX; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Tommy Cumpton, and two sisters, Lisa Moore and Faye Cumpton.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Minister Allen Peterson will officiate. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery, Diamond, MO.
