Dorothy Marie Dixon, 84, passed away January 28, 2015 in Freeman Hospital, Joplin.
Dorothy was born June 17, 1930 in Carroll City, Arkansas to R.D. Williams and Ruby (Filbeck) Williams. Dorothy graduated Valedictorian from Sarcoxie High school class of 1948. Dorothy was a lifetime Carthage resident and worked for Metcalf Auto as a bookkeeper from 1975 to 2008, she was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Carthage. Dorothy was an avid Cardinal Fan and enjoyed attending the Grandchildren’s sporting events; she also enjoyed cooking for her family.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Joe Gene Dixon July 22, 195 in Aurora, MO he preceded her in death May 23, 1973. Dorothy is survived by one daughter Connie Drake and husband Max of Joplin and one son Danny Dixon and wife Cindy of Carthage, three grandchildren Gina Marrs (Chad) of Carl Junction, Mark Drake (Karly) of Webb City and Jo Dixon (Michelle) of Joplin. Eight great grandchildren Chase and Jolee Marrs, Javis Brelin, Braden Drake, Nathan Drake, Silas Drake and Logan and Nora Dixon. Two sisters Arnetha Dreibelbis (Eugene) of Carthage and Faye Sjorlund (Ray) of Joplin, one brother Herschel Williams (Nancy) of Carthage, three sister in-laws Norma Lee Rodgers, Joann Wiseley (Ron) and Linda Weirs, one brother in-law Earl Dixon (Fern). Dorothy is preceded by her parents, husband, two sisters Hazel Hudson and Wilma Jean Aubrey, two brothers Roland and Donald Williams, one sister in-law Noema Hitchcock.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 31, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home, Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to service time Saturday January 31, 2015. Burial will be at Park Cemetery Carthage, MO. Contributions can be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or Childrens Miracle Network in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
