Jo C. Bates, 88 passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Carthage, MO.
Jo was born August 13, 1926 in Benton County Arkansas to Gilbert Allen and Una (Croxdale) Allen. Jo worked at Massa Clothing Distribution in Joplin for 7 years until moving to Carthage. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Hiwasse, AR.
Jo was united in marriage to Charles O. Bates March 26, 1944 in Pineville, MO he preceded her in death April 8, 1994. Jo is survived by two daughters Sherry Mason and husband Roy of Carthage and Judy Aldridge and husband Roger of Seneca. Three sons John Bates and wife Kathy of Carthage, Billy Bates of Baton Rouge, LA, and Charles W. Bates and wife Peggy of Goodman, MO. Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Two sisters Kay Vee Spiva of Pryor OK, and Mary Ruth Smith of Bella Vista, AR, and one brother Gary Allen of Strang, OK. Jo is preceded by her parents, husband and one sister Anna Swank.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 31, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday January 31, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery of Carthage.
