William “Bill” D. Johnson, 66, Carthage, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. William “Bill” Johnson was born June 10, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA to Wilford Earnest Johnson and Eloise B. (Ramston) Johnson. Bill graduated from Gardena High School, Gardena, CA in 1965. He married Margaret Luersen on November 9, 1968 in Joshua Tree, CA, she survives. Bill was a U.S Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW Carthage Quartermaster post. He was also a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Carthage. He spent his years as a master electrician and later moving to Carthage in October of 1982 from California.
Additional survivors include a daughter; Christi Bragg (husband Charles), Carthage, MO, two sons; William D. Johnson Jr (partner Tyler Hurst), Yukon, OK, and Richard J. Johnson (wife Aymee), Carthage, MO, two sisters; Carol Scholobohm, Cortolane, ID, Sharon Colleen Johnson, (husband Ted), Cameron, MO, one brother Richard Johnson, Omro, WI, and six grandchildren; Josh Rich, Caitlynn Rich, Cody Rich, Charlea Davis, Lexa Johnson, and Richie Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Dorn.
Visitation was held Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev.
