Jack P. Coodey, age 93, Joplin, passed away at 12:34 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Freeman Hospital after an illness.
Jack was born October 11, 1921 in Glenpool, Oklahoma to the late Been Coodey and Oddie Lingelback Coodey and had lived in Joplin since 1946, moving from Bellfower, California.
He was employed for 39 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring as an outside plant manager.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a 29 year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; the Army Reserve Officers Association; Joplin NALA; the Arthritis Association and Villa Heights Christian Church.
He married Audrey Jeane Nicholson on December 2, 1975 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Donald James Coodey, South Jordan, Utah, Jonny Ray Coodey, Joplin; one step son, John Peppers, Joplin; four step daughters, Bobbie Jean Peppers, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Priscilla Mayfield, Bowie, Maryland, Elizabeth Doss, Columbus, Kansas, Nancy Page, Carthage; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Craig Coodey and a sister, Lois Beth Fine.
Jack has been taken for cremation. No formal services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
