Brooksie Sterrett of Joplin, Missouri passed away March 5, 2015 at Joplin Health and Rehab Center.
She was born on October 10, 1919 in Duenweg, MO to the late Elmer and Josephine Sams.
Brooksie graduated from Joplin Business College and worked as office manager for Zeidler's Concrete Pipe Company for many years.
Marrying Raymond Sterrett on December 16, 1939, they resided in Joplin except for 10 years in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Brooksie was a member of South Joplin Christian Church and was active in the Ruth Chapter #177, Order of the Eastern Star and Azotus #5, White Shrine of Jerusalem. She loved gardening, sports and traveling with her family throughout the United States and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and a son James Sterrett.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sue Sterrett; grandchildren, Michael Sterrett, Elizabeth Baxter and husband Ron, all of Plainfield, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Matthew Gaub of Fairbanks, Alaska, Peter Macari and Thomas Macari of Plainfield, IL, and Morgan Sterrett of Schaumburg, IL; extended family and many friends.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
