Mary "Nadine" Bates, age 77 of Neosho, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home following an extended illness.
Nadine was born May 10, 1937 to the late Riley Shephard and Mary Klopenstine in Joplin. She has lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
Nadine was a bookkeeper for different trucking companies in the area but worked for Monkem Trucking the longest. She thoroughly enjoyed her church and her faith was a major part of her life. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Neosho.
Nadine married Lee Dane Bates in 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1997. Also preceding her in death are one brother, Riley Shephard; sisters, Maxine Bayliff, Lucy Jean White, Madelene Scott, Joy Brownell and Josephine Shephard.
Those surviving Nadine are a son, Gary and his wife LaShall Bates of West Fork, Arkansas; sister, Inalee Johnson of Salt Lick, Kentucky; in-laws, James and Beulah Bates of Joplin; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Services for Nadine will be held Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 A.M. at Parker Mortuary. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
