Lavon Olds

Alice “Lavon” Olds, age 77, of Duenweg, Mo., passed away on Tuesday March 10, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family, following an illness.

 Lavon was born on March 22, 1937 in Belle Center, Mo., the daughter of the late Ezra Julian and Thelma (DeHaven) Talley. She has been lifetime area resident. She married Gary DeWayne Olds in 1953, together they had six children. In her early years she worked at Kressgee’s Drug Store Soda Bar. She then became a nurse working for Freeman, St. John’s, and St. Luke’s, and retiring in 1998 as a private nurse. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church from time to time. It was very important to her to see that her children attended Catholic School, and all six of them did. She enjoyed genealogy and she was a member of the DeHaven Family Genealogy Club. 

Lavon is survived by her six children, Gary Olds and wife Marty, Blue Springs, Mo., Janie Lasswell and husband James, Duenweg, Mo., Robert Olds and wife Cindy, Duenweg, Mo., Kelly Olds and wife Kathy, Carl Jct., Mo., Russell Olds and wife Brenda, Duenweg, Mo., Kevin Olds, Duenweg, one brother, Steve Talley, Seattle, Wa.; one sister, Ruby LaTurner, Galena, Ks.; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Talley; and two sisters, Edith Terry and Ginny Marapo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Peter the Apostle Church. Reverend Simon Enudu will officiate. Entombment will be in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum. The pallbearers Gary Olds, Robert Olds. Kelly Olds, Rusty Olds. Jeremy Kitchenham, and Rob Olds. The honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Olds, Megan Olds, and Ryan Olds. 

Rosary service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday with a visitation to follow. Reverend J. Friedel will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter the Apostle Church in care of the mortuary.
