Michael Paul Day, age 60, Joplin, passed away at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Freeman Hospital.
Michael was born December 12, 1954 in Joplin to the late Loren Day and Shirley Webb Day and was a lifetime Joplin resident.
He worked for the City of Joplin at the Joplin Health Department for over 25 years as an environmental health specialist.
Michael was a longtime member of the N.R.A. and Joplin Rifle and Pistol Club. He enjoyed shooting sports and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Michael restored classic corvettes, bringing the total to seven that he built over the years.
Survivors include his son, Adam Day and his wife, Heather, Joplin; and two grandchildren, Kylee and Michael.
Graveside services are planned for Monday at Noon at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Day, Michael Kesinger, Kelley Webb, David Russell, Alex Belt and Ryan Talken. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Joplin Health Department for the support Michael received and the friendships he made throughout the years.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
