Dr. Jack Dewayne Cooper, age 87, of Joplin, MO formerly of Pierce City, MO died on Sunday, March 08, 2015 at Webb City Health & Rehabilitation Ctr in Webb City, MO. Dr. Cooper was born in Salt Lake City, UT on Sunday, August 21, 1927. He was the son of Carl Martin and Rut (McMurtry) Cooper . Dr. Cooper was married to Joycell Hamblin. He was a retired, well-known dentist and a graduate of USC dental school. Dr. Cooper served his country by serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monett, MO.
Dr. Jack Cooper was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and PHI Beta Capa at USC. He liked playing handball and his harmonica. His favorite sayings were " lead, follow, or get out of the way" and "get this show on the road; your burning daylight,"
Surviving are the following: his wife, Joycell; seven children, Janice Winden of Joplin, MO, Angela Ruth Lambrose of Salt Lake City, UT, Vaylene Teresa Rollins of Herriman, UT, Martin Dewayne Cooper of Blue Springs, MO, Shawn Eric Cooper of Fairfax Station, VA, Michael Lance Cooper of Henderson, NV, and Jim Wilde of Modesto, CA; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monett, MO on Friday, March 20, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Andelin Family Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.
