Maxine C. Sullivan, 101 years old, formerly of Joplin, passed away on March 22, 2015 at Olathe, KS.
Maxine was born June 27, 1913, at Ridgely, MO, to C.C. & Anna Stamps. Maxine was raised in Cushing, OK, where her father worked for the Shell Oil & Gas Refinery. She graduated from Fairland High School in 1929 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended Oklahoma University.
Maxine married V.H. (Sully) Sullivan on January 24, 1934, in Muskogee, OK. They lived in Miami, OK from 1936 until 1950 when they moved to Joplin, where she made her home for over 45 years. Maxine worked and managed the General Employment Service of Joplin for 42 years. She retired and moved to Olathe to be close to her family. Maxine was preceded in death by husband, V.H. and her parents. She is survived by her son, Jim D. Sullivan and daughter-in-law Rosalie; two grandsons, James and Michael; and one great-grandson, Sean.
There will be a graveside service at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be made to your favorite charity.
