Doris Henson

Doris Jeanette Henson, 82, Carthage, Mo., passed away Friday March 6, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. following a lengthy illness. 

Doris was born September 14th, 1932, the daughter of the late C.H. and Iva (Hague) Wine in Carthage, Mo. where she attended school. 

She married the love of her life, Bill Henson on February 4th, 1950. He survives. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Max, Bill, and Bud Wine. She is also survived by her daughters, Vickie Henson of Carthage, Mo., Marti Henson of Lexington, Ky., and Patty Ingram and spouse Paul of Carthage, Mo.; her grand children, Sara (Ingram) Fife and spouse James of Grove, Ok. and Ann Ingram of Carthage, Mo.; her great-grand children Dalton Fife and Willa Fife of Grove, Ok.; her grand dogs Auggie of Lexington, Ky. and Baxter of Carthage, Mo.; her sister Sally Smith and spouse Richard of Carthage, Mo.; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

Doris and her husband were avid travelers, travelling to Alaska, Canada, Texas, and Mexico for many years. They enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. She was involved in many organizations such as Jaycettes, Order of the Eastern Star Eminence Chapter #93, and Social Order of Beauceants. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and scuba diving, as well as playing cards and dominos. She was a long time member of Rio Hondo Baptist Church in Rio Hondo, Tx. where she and Bill wintered for 25 years. 

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 10, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday March 9, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. in care of Ulmer Funeral Home 1208 S. Garrison Ave. Carthage, Mo.
