Shirley Levin

(From Brenner Mortuary)

Shirley Jean Levin, 88, of Pittsburg, passed away at 3:32 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Carrington Place Residential Care.

She was born April 3, 1927 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Harold and Winifred (Havens) Cole. She attended local schools and graduated from College High School. She later attended Pittsburg State University. Shirley married James John Marshall on March 23, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church. They were married for 16 years and together had two daughters. In June of 1978, she was united in marriage to Alfred Levin. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2007. Mrs. Levin was the manager at Bob’s Shoe Warehouse. In her early years, Shirley enjoyed traveling and was active in area bridge clubs and Jaycees. Always an avid reader and music lover, she could easily spend hours pursuing these interests. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was perhaps her greatest past time.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Masoner of Pittsburg, and Jan Crandon (Chuck) of Joplin, MO; five grandchildren, Michelle Sedah, Melissa Hurt, Will Masoner, Courtney Crandon and John Crandon. She has eleven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Hailee, Robert, Levi, Ezra, Zeke, Ellis, Clarene, Jackson, Liam and Jaxson. She was looking forward to welcoming her twelfth great-grandson next month. Shirley also has six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Betty Grisham, and two nephews and one niece. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, John Cole, a great-grandson, C.J. Reece, and son-in-law, Darrell Masoner.

Memorial services were held Monday, April 20 at Brenner Mortuary with Reverend Mark Chambers, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
