Thelma Louise Brown, 87, died on April 20, 2015, following a long fought battle with illness.
Thelma was born Sept. 26, 1927 in Columbia, Mo., the daughter of Albert and Mabel Turner. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Fred Turner. She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia in 1945.
She moved to Neosho in the 1960s. She worked at Rocketdyne until they closed and then worked for Teledyne. She retired from Teledyne in 1989.
She married Emmett Brown on June 4, 1968. Emmett preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1993. Thelma was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church in Neosho. She belonged to a fun loving Red Hat group and she was a member of several card playing groups.Thelma was president of the United Methodist Women’s group. She was an active member of (ABWA), the American Business Women’s Association. Thelma enjoyed family and friends and loved to travel.
After retirement Thelma enjoyed traveling with friends. She was also active in the community. She was a 50-year member of the Columbia Missouri Masonic Lodge.
Thelma is survived by daughters Cynthia Herrick (Michael) of Leawood, Kan., and Dixie Montz (Steve) of Bella Vista, Ark.; and son, Jerry Jenkins of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
