Brooks Nunn

Brooks Roark Nunn went to his home in heaven on July 21, 2015 at his home in Edmond, OK with his son and daughter in law at his side at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 18 days. 

Brooks was born at Mason Springs, Missouri on October 3, 1927 to Pete and Carol Roark Nunn, the youngest of five children. Brooks was a graduate of Seneca High School, class of 1946. He served in the Korean War overseas as a railroad master in the transportation department where he earned an award from his platoon for his sense of humor for keeping the moral of everyone upbeat. He also attended Business College in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked at B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma, where he retired and following his retired from Goodrich, he farmed and raised cattle. After his retirement from farming, Brooks and his wife, Lucille Smith Nunn retired to Grove, Oklahoma. 

Brooks and Lucille were married on August 21, 1954 in Joplin, Missouri and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2001. Brooks and Lucille have one son, Ron and his wife, Marti of Edmond, Oklahoma. As the youngest child, Brooks was nicknamed ‘Babe’. He was a member of Swars Prairie Baptist Church in Seneca, Missouri, where he attended with his family and was baptized. Later, he and Lucille became active members of the First Baptist Church of Fairland, Oklahoma, where he was still a member. In the past few years, Brooks attended church with Ron and Marti at the Edmond First Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Ron Nunn and wife, Marti of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Sam Nunn of Neosho, MO and Max Nunn and wife, Sharon of Seneca, MO; three sisters in law, Ruth Smith Broady of Joplin, MO; Dorothy Smith of Baxter Springs, KS and Mary Smith of Grove, OK; nieces, Vicki Sreaves Wade and husband, Ronnie of Claremore, Oklahoma; Rhonda Nunn Percival and husband, Donnie of Seneca, MO; Brenda Smith Lane and husband, Benny of Grove, OK and Laura Smith Scott and husband, Steve of Kansas City, MO; nephews, Jeff Nunn and wife, Stephanie of Seneca, MO; Bruce Smith and wife, Mary Beth of Baxter Springs, KS; Darrell Smith and Gaylen Smith of Baxter Springs, KS; Mark Broady and wife, Kayla of Joplin, MO and Kent Broady of Joplin, MO. A host of great nieces and nephews that he loved very much; cousins, Floyd Sreaves and wife, Carolyn of Seneca, MO; Maggie Perse of Wyandotte, OK and Darwin Tucker of Seneca, MO. Extended family that Brooks loved as his own, Marti’s sister, Sarah Kearnes and husband, David and children Paige Netherton and husband, Josh and children, Avery and little Brooks and Madalyn Evans and husband, Zach, all of Broken Arrow, OK. 

Brooks loved his friends and family and loved spending time together and having fun. He never liked for anyone to be sad and if they were, he somehow would make them laugh. He loved all animals and would bring home any stray along the way. The family would like to extend a special thanks to special friends, James Crowder, Pam Williams and Ning Roberts for helping when needed.
