Frank Reed

Frank “Brick” R. Reed, 68, of Sarcoxie, Mo departed this life suddenly on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Frank entered this life on July 7, 1947 to the union of Harold and Dorothy (Pennington) Reed in San Jose, California. His family later moved to West Plains, Mo where he started fifth grade and attended until his junior year, then moving to Ava, Mo and was a 1966 graduate of Ava High School. During his summer year of 1966 he dated Donna Tidwell and later went their separate ways. Ten years passed and they were reacquainted and married on June 17, 1977 in Springfield, Mo. On August 30, 1966 he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served until August 30, 1972. They resided in Springfield, Mo until 1985, later moving to Texas and returned to Plew, Mo in 1991. Brick was a twenty one year member of Red Oak American Legion. For years he and his family faithfully placed flags on veteran’s graves. He was a huge supporter of Miller schools activities and events. Brick also was a supporter of Gotta Dance Studio in Aurora, Mo and was affectionately known as dance Pop Pop. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, taking care of his cattle, caring for his farm and watching westerns, as well as attending all activities of his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Brick is survived by his wife Donna, his children; Julia “Missy” Hulbert and husband Isaac of Miller, Samuel Johnson and wife Joy of Louisville, Co., Amy McClelland of Seligman, Mo and Nelson Reed and wife Maria of Dover, TN., fourteen grandchildren; Sydnee, Emma, Weh, Harper, Shelby, Gage, Mason, McKenzie, Cassidy, Ryan, Evan, Justin, Olivia and Jedediah, his mother; Dorothy Reed, two sisters; Karen Hutton and husband Pete and Debra Reed all of Fairbanks, Alaska, sister in laws; Joanna, Susie, Mary, Lenora and Myra, several nephews and nieces as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services with full military honors for Mr. Reed are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Red Oak Cemetery with Pastor Dr. Robert Hodson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those honoring his life as pallbearers are Gage McClelland, Jim Demster, Chris Orr, Brett Downing, Ed Downing and Ruben Downing, honorary pallbearers are Danny Douglas, Carl Goss, Isaac Hulbert, Samuel Johnson, Nelson Reed, Mason McClelland, Weh Hulbert, Ryan Reed and Jeremy Fultz. Family has directed memorial contributions be made to Red Oak Cemetery and may be left with the funeral home.
