Virgie Manning

Virgie “Geri Manning, of Carthage, 89, passed away July 7, 2015, She had been a patient of a local nursing home since 2012,

Virgie was born April 22, 1926 in Cheyenne, Kansas to Newton Thomas Arnold and Delia Arnold, she was the youngest of twelve siblings and the spouse of beloved husband Joseph Eugene Manning, all preceded her in death. Virgie spent most of her early years in the Springfield, MO area and moved to Wichita, KS where he attended Cosmetology College. Later working for Raytheon Aircraft Company until her retirement in 1994, then relocating to Carthage, MO. She loved line dancing and participated in small groups for others to enjoy, Virgie was a member of the Wichita Chapter of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine, and she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper, MO, until the onset of her Illness. 

Aunt Geri will be missed by many surviving nieces and nephews; Herbert Crisler of Willis, TX, Jack Smith of Carthage, MO, Ed Kephart of Joplin, MO, Shirley Torline of Palm Springs, CA, Janice Yates Haney of Springfield, MO, Doris Hodde of Dodge City, KS, Joyce Colatie of Chicago, IL, and Lola Law of Carthage, MO. 

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday July 10, 2015 at Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the Graveside service from 12:30 to 1:30p.m. Friday July 10, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Reverend Charles Chrisman will officiate the service. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of choice in Care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
