(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Deborah Kay Sullivan, of Oronogo, Missouri, affectionately known as Debbie, passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, May 3, 2024, after a brief illness at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Born on April 24, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Gerda (Towtz) Gaines. Debbie's warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will be treasured by all.
She was raised and attended school in Joplin. In 1970, she made her home in Oronogo, Missouri, where she would spend the majority of her life. Debbie was a dedicated worker, having been employed at Keller's Barbecue in Joplin, the Dinner Bell in Webb City, and Judy's Cafe in Jasper. She also worked alongside her husband in the operation of Airborne Pollen for several years, showcasing her versatility and commitment to her family's endeavors.
Debbie's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She had a passion for crocheting and researching genealogy. Debbie took great pride in her flowerbeds, nurturing them with the same care and attention she gave to every aspect of her life. Above all, her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family and friends. She had a way of making everyone feel special and valued, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

She is survived by her husband, John Sullivan whom she married on June 20, 1970; three children, Jason Sullivan and wife, Samantha, of Oronogo, Missouri, Jamie Sullivan and wife, Shellie, of Carl Junction, Missouri and Jennifer Rippel and husband, Neal, of Columbus, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Austin Sullivan, Nicole Sullivan, Illyanna Buckley, Logan Buckley, Kaylee Sullivan, Wyatt Sullivan and Cashtyn Rippel; a brother, Ronnie Gaines and wife, Marilou, of the state of Florida; two sister-in-laws, Joyce Patton of Reeds, Missouri and Suzan Sullivan of Riverton, Kansas; her beloved dog, Bud-Bud; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
