Maurice High

Maurice Eugene High, 94, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

He resided at Maple Tree Terrance, where he enjoyed their care, support and love from all the staff that provided great care and they loved him in return.

Maurice was born on Friday, June 28, 1929, in Berryville, Arkansas. On March 22, 1976, he was united in marriage to Thelma J. Whitley, together they shared forty-eight years. 






He was more than proud to serve his county faithfully and honorably, serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army, Military Police and Army National Guard. He was a faithful and dedicated employee, retiring from Safeway Cheese. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, loved the great outdoors, cardinal baseball and a good drink every now and then.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carma Reeves, who always took such good care of him as he aged. Always looking out for him. Niece Madonna Burns; and nephew, Clifton Burns.








Maurice is survived by his wife, Thelma High; daughter, Patricia Ryan, of Hornet Missouri; brother -in-law, Clyde “Jitterbug” Reeves of Sarcoxie; nephews, Larry Reeves of Carthage and Randy Reeves and wife, Janice of Sarcoxie; great nieces and nephews, Johnna Hagebush, Tiffany Fink, Randi Barker, Brittany Harper, Sasha Waltz, Taegan Fink, Emma Seedorf, Toryn Fink and Victoria Barker; as well as a host of other family and friends. Maurice will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Memorial service with full military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
