(From Parker Mortuary)Stephen Jeffrey Hill, 65, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family in Sarcoxie, MO. He was born on September 27, 1960, in Thorne, England, to the late Joshua and Winifred (Needham) Hill.
Stephen's early years in England were marked by a strong sense of duty and service, which he exemplified through his time in the British Army. His commitment to safety and well-being of others was further reflected in his work as a safety inspector before he embarked on a new chapter in the United States. In 2006, Stephen moved to the U.S., where he found not only a new home but also the love of his life, Jeannie. They married on July 1, 2006, and together they built a life full of love and laughter.
In his professional life, Stephen was known for his reliability and expertise as a forklift driver at Leggett and Platt in Carthage, Missouri.
Beyond his work, Stephen was a man of many interests. His hands were skilled in the art of woodworking. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing and hunting. Stephen's adventurous spirit shone through his passion for motorcycles, a hobby that provided him with both excitement and a sense of freedom. A master at the grill, Stephen's bbqing gatherings were legendary. These moments were a testament to Stephen's ability to bring people together, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will be deeply missed.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Hill; children, Laura Harvey, Gemma Longhurst, Thomas Hill, all of the U.K., Hailey Longstaff of Carthage, and Amaeraey Hill, of the home; 19 grandchildren; siblings, Sue Potter, Doreen Graham, Gloria Luczak, Beryl Boyer Talbot, Denise Harvey, and Sandra Summers.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Jennifer Boyer, Christine Gwynn, and Malcolm Hill.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, January 23, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO.
The family would like to commend the efforts and staff of Phoenix Hospice for their care and compassion during Stephen’s final months. Sheila, Emily, Lisa, Darin, Susan, Linda were amazing.
