(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Teri Suzanne Gaston, age 41, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 7, 2026.
Teri was born on May 10, 1984, in Joplin, Missouri, to Ron and Becky Gaston. She grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas, and graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 2002. She was the younger sister of Mandy Gaston, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.
Teri was a creative and passionate soul with a sharp sense of humor and a laugh that could fill a room. She was funny, expressive, and deeply human—someone who felt things fully and lived them out loud. Above all, Teri loved her boys. Being their mother was the center of her world, and her love for them was unwavering.
Family was profoundly important to Teri. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a proud mother, and a loyal friend. Those who knew her best understood both her incredible heart and the challenges she faced. Through it all, she remained someone who loved deeply and was loved in return.
Teri will be remembered for her laughter, her creativity, her passion, and the fierce love she held for her children and family. Her memory lives on in those who loved her and the conversations her life continues to inspire—with honesty, compassion, and hope.
She is survived by her sons, Ben Sneed of Springfield, Missouri, and Asher Gaston of Joplin, MO; her parents, Ron and Becky Gaston of Joplin, MO; her sister, Mandy Gaston, Joplin, MO and Mandy’s partner, Anne Compton; and her niece and nephew, Max and Lily Compton. She is also lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established in Teri’s memory to benefit Asher’s future education. Donations may be made to Simmons Bank, Joplin, Missouri.
