Jettie Wilson

Jettie B. Wilson, age 78, Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Jettie was born March 23, 1940 in Florence, Alabama, daughter of the late Homer L. Bergin and Odell Howard Bergin. She grew up in Lexington, Alabama, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. She initially worked for the army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, before accepting a job with Marshall Space Flight Center of NASA, also in Huntsville. She later moved to Joplin, Missouri in 1973. It was at that time that she married Jeff K. Wilson, and the couple has lived in the area ever since. Upon relocating to Joplin, she began a career with the Social Security Administration and worked for many years in the Miami, Oklahoma office. She loved spending time with family, and was a member of New Hope Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Jettie was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Bergin.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jeff Wilson; son, Gregg Wilson and wife Shelly of Omaha, Nebraska; step-children, Scott Wilson and wife Tracy, and Jennifer Lynn "Jennie" DeColores and husband Miguel, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Nathan Tyler Wilson of Hunting Beach, California, Hilary Laine Wilson Gorman and husband Patrick of Pittsburg, Kansas, Christopher Myles Wilson and wife Lauren of Houston, Texas, Rachel Claire Wilson Nicholson and husband Sean of The Woodlands, Texas, Mindy Wilson, Cara Wilson both of Little Rock, Jessie Selvey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Liam Selvey of New York; numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
