Brett Walters

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Brett Allan Walters, 65, of Monett, Missouri, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 18, 2026. Born July 23, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri to Jerrell and Patricia Walters, Brett lived life with enthusiasm, humor, and a deep love for his family. From fast cars and football to finding the fun in every moment, he had a way of making ordinary life feel special.

Brett was a proud father, a devoted grandfather, a cherished brother, and a loyal friend to many. He was known for his unforgettable, often outrageous storytelling and a laugh so full and contagious it filled every room. More than anything, Brett was proud of his family, and his greatest joy came from being surrounded by them. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and genuine connection.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Walters; his father, Jerrell Walters; his mother, Patricia Todd; his stepfather Vann Todd; and his brother, Shawn Walters. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Allen Carr; significant other, Melissa Reedy; his son Bradley Walters; his daughter and son-in-law Bailey Walters and Jacob Gross; six grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Brett was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan and rarely missed the chance to watch a game with his family. Summers were best spent grilling a juicy steak, enjoying a warm fire, and laughing until his sides hurt. He had a special bond with his dog, Lily, often having full, goofy conversations with her and insisting everyone else join in, too.

All the things Brett loved most had one thing in common: they were shared with family. That was where he was happiest. He had an incredible gift for making friends wherever he went and could make anyone laugh without trying.

His smile stretched across his entire face, and it was impossible not to smile right along with him. The world feels quieter now, missing the sound of his laughter echoing through it but the joy he brought will live on in everyone who knew and loved him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
