Nancy Knight

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Nancy Ellen Joeckel Knight, loving Mom and Nana, and a 2011 Joplin tornado survivor was called to her heavenly home.

Nancy passed on January 21, 2026, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO, after a brief illness, with her son Joshua and daughter-in-law Jessica Worm by her side.

Born at St Vincent’s Hospital in Monett on December 1, 1952, she was baptized into St John’s Lutheran Church, Monett, MO, on the same day! She later confirmed her faith at St John’s on April 3, 1966. Her confirmation verse was Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised)”

Mom had a heart of gold, and an unquestionable faith in her Lord. Even at the time of her passing, she took comfort in knowing that she would be welcomed home with open arms, by both friends and family that had passed before her.

A 1970 Monett High School graduate, Nancy married her high school sweetheart (Frederick Worm) on June 27, 1970 at the age of 17 years old.

Throughout Nancy’s adult life, many long-term relationships and memories were made. From countless vacations to fishing trips while she was in Bass “N” Gals.

Nancy was always striving to make the most out of life. She spent most of her life as a business owner in the Transportation Industry, and even held a CDL.

Nancy is preceded in death by both parents, Edgar and Esther Joeckel of Monett.

Nancy is survived by her love Brad Baum of the home in Branson, MO; son Joshua and daughter-in-law Jessica Worm of Monett; four grandchildren, Dana Pierce (Luke Pierce) of Koshkonong, MO, Rikki Struble (Enoch Struble) of Bruner, MO, and Kody and Kolton Worm of Ozark, MO. Also, four bonus grandchildren, Madi Wright (Brady Wright) of Pierce City, MO, and Taylor, Dakoda and Hayleigh Hood of Rockwall, TX. She also leaves three great-grandsons, Emmett Wright, Waylon Pierce and expected in May 2026, Bennett Wright; as well as her three brothers, Benjamin Joeckel of Exeter, MO, Mark Joeckel of Joplin, MO and John Joeckel of Summertown, TN.

We’ve received an incredible amount of love and support throughout this difficult time. It’s incredibly heartwarming to hear how many people’s lives she’s touched over her lifetime!

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. We hope the majority of her friends and family will be able to attend!. Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
