(From Parker Mortuary)Steven Edward Lane, 69 of Joplin, MO, passed away suddenly on January 18, 2026 leaving a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Arlene.

Those who knew Steve best were privileged to his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas Jayhawks, the Chicago Bears, and the NCAA Basketball Tournament. As a music lover, he had a deep appreciation for unique, mystical lyrics which drew him to The Beatles and he was responsible for introducing their music to several friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Shirley Lane, brother-in-law, John Elliott, maternal and paternal grandparents, five feline companions, Bo Peeps, Peeps, Little Man, Smokey, and Fella, sharing a special bond with each.
