James Hawkins

James Lee Hawkins 72, of Uniontown, KS died 3:08am Thursday January 29, 2026 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO following an illness. James was born April 29,1953 in Ft. Scott, KS the son of Donald Lee and Madge Wynona (Cady) Hawkins. He was a lifelong resident of Ft. Scott, KS and attended area schools. 

James was a member of the National Guard serving for 9 years. James worked for Severy Tire and installed farm tires for over 30 years retiring in 2004. James in his free time enjoyed fishing, hunting and making knives. 








Survivors include the love of his life Cindy Mumbower of Uniontown, KS; children Karri Stumfoll of Ft. Scott, KS, John Wesley and wife Michelle of Ft. Scott, KS, Stephanie Ethridge of Brandon, FL, Hannah L. Hawkins of Uniontown, KS, Joshua L. Hawkins and wife Anna of Jasper, MO, Paul Smith and wife Tena of Uniontown, KS, Becky LeAnn Miller of Ft. Scott, KS; siblings Gene Hawkins of Ft. Scott, KS, Becky Ann Miller and husband Craig of Ft. Scott, KS, Donna Gage of Joplin, MO and Larry Hawkins of Ft. Scott, KS; grandchildren Reba, Libby, Ciara, Allie, Dalton, Quinn, Violet, Jazmyn, Haylee, Tamara, Terrie, Timothy, Logan, Gage, Brooklyn and Ciera; many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  

James was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Peggy and Linda. 








Services will take place at a later date to be announced by the family. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Hannah Hawkins to help with final expenses.
