Frank Settle

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Frank David Settle, age 77, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 15, 1948 in Monett, Missouri to the late Frank and Lorene Settle. A few years later his sister LaDonna Kay was born, followed by his brother, Robert Lee.

Frank attended Royal Heights Grade School, East Junior High, and graduated with the Class of 1966 at Joplin High. He also attended Missouri Southern College for two years where he was student trainer for Southern’s football team.

While attending a Sock Hop at the Roll-a-Rama, he met Pat Macy. They married three years later on June 15, 1968. They were blessed with two boys, Jamie and Jonathan. Jamie passed away in 1988 at the age of 17. What a precious reunion it must have been for Frankie to be with Jamie after 37 years!

Frank’s career was mostly in the retail business. He worked at Katz and Arlan’s before joining Proctor & Gamble as a sales rep for 20 years. He retired in 2010.

Frank had many interests. His Dad’s home of Williamsburg, Virginia influenced his love of history, especially the Civil War. He enjoyed going hunting and to field trials with his Gordon Setters. They had many pets over the years, mostly dogs, but his favorite was little Macy. She brought so much joy to their lives. Frank was a life-long fan of the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Frankie made his profession of faith as a teenage boy. He loved to study the Bible. The King James Bible to be exact. He was ordained as a Deacon at Wildwood Baptist Church. After joining Forest Park Baptist Church in 1984 he was given the opportunity to teach a class that grew from 6 to almost 70. He didn’t just want people to come to class and leave, so he and Pat started having monthly fellowships in their home so everyone could actually become Friends, which became the name of the class.

They loved to have company and there were many Friday nights of dominoes, men against women of course. Shortly after Soul’s Harbor opened, Frank began preaching on the first Tuesday of every month for over 35 years, until his health prevented him from attending.

Surviving Frank is his wife Pat, son Jonathan Settle, sister LaDonna Mangile (Dan), brother Robbie Settle, all of Joplin, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

We want to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Russ Kennedy and Monica McKee, P.A. for their loving care of Frank for many years and to dear friends, Tom and Fern Cowen and Carrie and DJ Hight, for the love and support they have given us for a lifetime. We also thank the Staff at Phoenix Home Health & Hospice for their care these last three years, especially Michelle, Britney, and TJ. We also want to thank the Duenweg Fire Department for the many times they quickly responded when Frank needed assistance. We are blessed with so many people who helped us. We pray God’s blessings on each one.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Duenweg Fire Department or Soul’s Harbor.
