Ruthie L. Cox, age 85, Joplin, passed away at 11:38 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, after a sudden illness.
Ruthie was born May 1, 1929 in the state of Arkansas and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She worked at LaBarge, Inc. for many years and was an active member of NAACP. She was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church, Joplin.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, Halliburton Cox, Sr. on July 16, 1995 and a brother, Ray Brewer.
Survivors include a son, Halliburton Cox, Jr., St. Louis; three grandchildren, Calvin, Shannan and Mela; and one great grandson, Vaughn.
Services are planned for Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Parkway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the NAACP, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
