Aurora Zavala Guzman, age 89, Joplin, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 at National Healthcare Center.
Aurora was born October 31, 1925 in Lavernia, Texas to the late Simon Zavala and Viviana Rivas and had lived in the Joplin area for 15 years.
A homemaker, she had worked at a daycare for several years and was a faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses East Congregation.
Aurora is survived by her children, Yolanda Ross and her husband, Thomas, San Antonio, Texas, Rachel Salas and her husband, Jesse, San Antonio, Texas, Juan Guzman and his wife, Ruth, Joplin, Roger Guzman and his wife, Janie, San Antonio, Texas, Abel Guzman, San Antonio, Texas, Becky Leon, San Antonio, Texas, Javier Guzman, San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Frances Zamora, San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses East Congregation, 2500 Alpaca, Joplin. Interment of ashes will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
Following the services, there will be an open house at the home of Juan Guzman, 2826 N. Iowa, Joplin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
This is an outstanding venue, with great and thoughtful staff, and a fantastic chef. The location is well situated. We has been delighted to host our annual event at this location for the past few years, and the space for private parties Los Angeles has been perfect for our group of roughly 300.
