Dorotha Dean (Mason) Steffan, Neosho, died June 24, 2015 at the age of 89.
Dorotha was born June 17, 1926 in Anderson, the only child of Ira (Bud) and Malda (McKee) Mason. She attended school in Neosho and graduated in 1944. In 1965, Dorotha and her husband, Ed moved to Branson where she managed the Empire Inn Resort and in 1966, they returned to Neosho and she worked for the University of Missouri Extension Office. Dorotha had belonged to the women’s golf league; she loved to make quilts and worked with paper crafting. Dorotha and Ed loved to bowl on mixed leagues and helped with youth scouting programs. She was very active in the Neosho United Methodist Church and was a lifelong member.
Dorotha and Edward O. Steffan were married on Feb. 2, 1946 in Neosho and he survives. She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Steffan) Schwartz and husband, Gene of Neosho, son-in-law, Jerry Woods of Neosho; three grandsons, Christopher Vandergriff, Matthew Vandergriff and Jason Woods; one granddaughter, Kerrie Bertrand; three step grandchildren, Sheila Schwartz Parsons, Eugene Schwartz, Jr. and Grant Schwartz; four great grandsons, Nathan, Justin and Bradley Vandergriff and Zachary Bertrand; two great granddaughters, Ashleigh and Taylor Woods and five step great grandchildren, Spencer Parsons, Savanah Parsons, Nicholas Schwartz, Sophia Schwartz and Kennedy Schwartz. Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Tonda Kay Woods.
