James R. Howerton, 86, died Wednesday June 10, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Carthage.
Jim was born November 3, 1928 in Springfield, MO to Rella E. and Louise (Lloyd) Howerton. The family moved to Carthage when Jim was two to begin the family dry cleaning business. Jim graduated from Carthage High School in 1946 and continued his athletic endeavors at the former SMS. He returned to Carthage to join the family business, Howerton Cleaners.
On May 15, 1948 Jim married Nancy Neubert who survives. He is also survived by his daughter Nancy Dymott and husband Jeff and son David Howerton and wife Sherry of Gilbertsville, KY, grandchildren are Jean Ann Dymott, James Dymott, Sarah Embry and Brad of Owensboro, Katie Rodriguez and John Howerton of Texas and 4 great granddaughters.
Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday June 12, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitations will be held 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
