R.B. “Nick” Nichols, 87, Carthage, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospital; Joplin, MO. R.B. Nichols was born June 19, 1927 in Collin County, TX, to the late A.R. Nichols and Bertha (Manges) Nichols. He married Helen Underwood on August 8, 1946 in St. Louis, MO; she preceded him in death in 2012. R.B. worked for 35 years at the Hercules Powder Plant, Carthage, MO, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carthage, MO. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Joplin Bowling Hall of Fame in 2009. He also served as a Merchant Marine during WWII.
Survivors include one son; Richard L. Nichols, Carthage, MO; two grandsons; Ronnie Nichols, Joplin, MO, and Randy (Jennifer) Nichols, Carthage, MO; and five great grandchildren.
