Thelma Louise Legg, age 83, formerly of Carl Junction, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at River Walk Village, Noblesville, Indiana, after an illness.
Thelma was born December 13, 1931 in Pineville, Missouri to the late Fred B. Vaughan and Lena Smith Vaughan and had lived in the Joplin area before moving to Indianapolis to be near her daughter several years ago.
She attended school and graduated from Pineville High School. Thelma worked as a bookkeeper for 14 years for the former Bay-Mule T.V. Shop in Joplin. She then, along with her husband, owned and operated Art Legg's Florist, North of Joplin for many years.
Thelma was a former president of the Tri-State Floral Association; former member of the Joplin Women's Club; member of the Ozark Florist Association and a member of the Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas Florist Associations. She was also a past member of Empire Baptist Church.
In her spare time, Thelma enjoyed playing bridge and playing golf at Briarbrook Country Club.
She married Arthur Legg on September 22, 1954 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Crouch and Janice Harrington; and a son, Stephen Legg.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri Legg Randall, Indianapolis, Indiana, Karen Garren, Joplin; brother-in-law, Ray Legg; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until service time at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Thelma Legg Memorial Fund, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
