(From Parker Mortuary)
Glen Edward (Ed) Pflug, age 63, of rural Weir, KS, passed away Sunday morning, February 28, 2016, at his home.
Born October 29, 1952, in Joplin, Ed was the son of the late Glen Evans Pflug and Mary Ann Rowland Pflug. Raised in Joplin, he attended Lafayette Elementary, South Junior High and graduated in 1970 from Parkwood High School.
Ed was a good athlete as a boy and enjoyed and participated in several sports. As an adult, he was a Cardinal baseball and Jayhawk basketball fan, and he followed the Yankees closely to be able to talk to his dad. He was also an avid and accomplished river, lake and strip pit fisherman and enjoyed collecting fishing gear.
Ed was mechanically inclined and a certified welder, working in railroad car repair for many years. He then became the longtime owner and operator of The Arma Home Bakery, Arma, Kansas.
In September, 1979, Ed married Denise Barone and their marriage of more than twenty years included the births of two daughters. Ed was particularly proud of his daughters, both college-educated, successful career women. He and Denise were divorced, but neither remarried.
Ed's survivors include his former wife Denise, Arma; daughters Danielle Elaine Pflug and fiancé Tommy Hartzfeld of Mulberry, KS; Nicole Louise Rich and husband Tommy of Olathe, KS; his sister Carolyn Pflug Hale, her husband John, of Joplin, and their three children; and a new granddaughter Anna Louise Rich.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12th, at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Dave Burgess officiating. Private graveside services at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery will precede the memorial service. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the home of John and Carolyn Hale, 2415 Colorado Dr., Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna L Rich Scholarship Fund, for the benefit of his granddaughter, in care of Parker Mortuary.
