Levi Thomas “Buss” Womack, 94, of Southwest City, Missouri, went to be his Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon, February 27, 2016, at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Levi entered this life on August 24, 1921, east of Southwest City, Missouri, son of the late Levi Bert and Maggie Corum (Thornhill) Womack. He was a lifelong resident of the Southwest City, Missouri area.
Levi was united in marriage to Elizabeth Rose “Betty” Meyer on June 16, 1941 and to this union three children were born, Tommy, Betty and Bonnie.
After high school, Buss joined the CCC and the WPA. He worked for Tom North Ford and Sanders Chevrolet both located in Southwest City before becoming the truck shop manager for Ray Neal and Hudson Farms. He enjoyed life on his farm raising cattle and bailing hay. He loved to hunt and fish, care for his animals and spending time with his family. Levi accepted Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly seventy-four years, Elizabeth Rose “Betty” Womack on April 29, 2015; five brothers, Herbert, Clarence, David, Forrest and Claud Womack; a sister, Velma Lett; two son in-laws, Don Boyett and Mike Hopkins; and a grandson, Kevin Boyett.
Buss is survived by his three children, Tommy Womack and wife, Virginia, of Southwest City, Missouri, Betty Boyett of Grove, Oklahoma and Bonnie Hopkins of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jim Womack and wife, Carmen, of Southwest City, Missouri, David Womack and wife, MiChele, also of Southwest City, Kathy Downing and husband, Wess, of Grove, Oklahoma, Donnetta Kerr and husband, Todd, of Grove, Kelly Boyett and wife, Karla, of Grove and Jennifer Thrasher and husband, Brian, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; several great and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Womack are 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, March 3, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Missouri, with Bro. Rob Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jim Womack, David Womack, Kelly Boyett, Wess Downing and Todd Kerr. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Southwest City First Baptist Church Youth Group and contributions may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Missouri.
