Betty Cole

Betty Ann (Jefferson) Cole, of Wheaton, Missouri was born October 2, 1933 in Alsey, Illinois the daughter of James and Vida (Day) Jefferson. She passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at her home after a lengthy illness.

In 1952 she graduated from Winchester High School in Winchester, Illinois and then worked for the Illinois Secretary of State. On June 21, 1958 in Alsey, Illinois she was united in marriage to Russell D. Cole. In 1971 they moved to Wheaton Missouri where they raised chickens and cattle. Betty loved working in her vegetable garden and enjoyed her flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheaton.

Surviving are her husband, Russell; one daughter, Diane Cole of Joplin, Missouri; two sons, David Cole and his wife Amy of Cassville, Missouri and Douglas Cole and his wife Patricia of Gladstone, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Holly Richardson and her husband Zachary of Mukilteo, Washington, Lindsay Cole of Los Angeles, California, Andrew Cole of Seattle, Washington, Emily Cole of Cassville, Missouri, Jefferson Cole of Gladstone, Missouri, Michael Prall of Kingston, Washington, Erik Prall of Ozark, Missouri, Steven Prall of Joplin, Missouri and Dallas Prall of Kingston, Washington; one great-grandchild, Rilee Prall of Joplin, Missouri; six brothers, Keith Jefferson and his wife Betsy, Harold Jefferson and his wife Esther and Rogers Jefferson and his wife Bonnie all of Alsey, Illinois, Pat Jefferson and his wife LeAnn of Sioux City, Iowa, Glen Jefferson and his wife Linda of Alsey, Illinois and Donald Jefferson and his wife Janice of Manchester, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Jane Killebrew and her husband Ronnie of Patterson, Illinois and Norma Jean Ossman of Trenton, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Bill Jefferson and Roy Jefferson.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Wheaton, Missouri under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Mark Hall will conduct the services. Burial will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery at Wheaton.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Betty.
