Ervin Standlee

Ervin Standlee, born December 16, 1925, died on October 24, 2017 at the age of 91. 

He graduated from the 8th grade in Urbanette, AR and from high school at KCCBS in Overland Park, Kansas. He attended college at KCCBS and graduated in 1967 from Pittsburg State Teacher’s College in Pittsburg, Kansas. He earned his Masters from the same university in 1972. He felt education was important to everyone. Ervin taught at Diamond and Avilla, Missouri and also served as the elementary principal for both schools. He served in WW II as a medic and worked in the concentration camp, Mauthausen-Gusen in Austria. 

 He became a Christian at the age of 14 while attending the first night of a revival in the Nauvoo, Missouri grade school. He served as pastor for the Silver Moon Church of God Holiness for more than 30 years. He also pastored at the Church of God Holiness in Seneca and Log Church. He was a faithful Christian and his children knew that God came first in his life. Ervin loved the Lord, he looked forward to the spring, his favorite season, when the ground and trees came to life again. He appreciated a bountiful crop, whether it was corn, potatoes or blackberries. He enjoyed raising cattle and horses, excited that each spring there would be the birth of calves and colts. Ervin was competitive in all games, loving to win, whether it was word games, horseshoes, baseball, trivia or dominoes with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ervin loved to sing and listen to gospel music. 

 He is survived by three sons, Russell (Lucille) Standlee of Kansas City, Missouri; James (Sue) Standlee of Neosho and Dwight Standlee of Neosho; one daughter, Donna (Greg) Foster of Tecumseh, Kansas; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ida (Hester) Standlee; his parents, Arvle and Agnes Standlee; three sisters, Ina, Marie and Winnie; one brother, AJ and one great grandson, Colton James Standlee.

Funeral services for Ervin will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, his son, Reverend Russell E. Standlee and Reverend Dr. Gordon Snider will officiate. Interment will follow in the Diamond Cemetery, Diamond. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9 am until service time.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
