Gerald Giles

Gerald Elwood Giles, Fairland, OK went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 91.

He was born November 27, 1925 in rural Vinita, Kelso district to Edgar and Manda (Berry) Giles.
Gerald met the love of his life Lola Mays while attending Bluejacket, Oklahoma High School and was married in June 1944 in Columbus, KS. Moving to Fairland in 1958 together they raised seven wonderful children.

Gerald served in the United States Army and was a WW2 Veteran. After returning home he worked in the mines for Eagle Picher, also Crane Company, Miami, OK, and Farmland Industries, Afton, OK where he retired.

He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church, Afton.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lola (Mays) Giles, on son Glenn Giles, two brothers Kenneth Giles, Joe Giles and his parents Edgar and Manda (Berry) Giles.

He is survived by four sons Gerald Wayne and Peggy Giles, Miami, OK, Larry and Terri Giles, James and Janda Giles all of Fairland, OK, David Giles and Lee Ann Walker, Bluejacket, OK, Two daughters Paula and Jimmy Corbin, Seneca, MO, and Marijane Williams, Miami, OK. Two sisters Shirley and Max Long, Vinita, OK, and Mary Daughtery, Vinita, Ok. Along with 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lone Star Baptist Church in Afton, OK. Pastor Brian Gibson will officiate. Interment will be in Bluejacket Cemetery in Bluejacket, OK. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 147 Funeral Detail. Pallbearers will include Dereck Giles, Warren Giles, Michael Giles, Donald Giles, Greg Giles and Douglas Cobin. Honorary pallbearers will include Trent Beal, Corbin Beal, Kacen Giles, Corbin Giles, Caleb Giles, Caden Giles, Corbin Schumacher and Garrett Schumacher. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations be made to Lone Star Baptist Church in Memory of Gerald and Lola Giles.
