Karren Lynn Hirst Varner, age 70 of Joplin, passed away at her home at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
Born July 17, 1944 in Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Hirst and Mamie Piper Hirst. She graduated from Noel High School. Karren was a devoted and reliable employee. She worked 18 years for Hudson Foods followed by a family owned grocery in Noel. She then worked as a meat wrapper for Smitty’s, Albertson’s and Price Cutter in Joplin until retiring due to ill health. Family was her main focus. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Westerman of Joplin; a son, Stacy Varner and wife Stephanie of Carl Junction; a brother, Kenneth Hirst and wife Irene of Florida; three grandchildren, Justice Westerman, Lindsey and Tyler Varner.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Four State Cremation. No formal services are planned.
