Mary Jane Johnson

Mary Jane Johnson, age 73 of Duenweg, Mo. passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mary Jane was born on July 19, 1941 in Eden, Il., the daughter of Foster and Loretta (Outten) Benjamin. She worked as a dispatcher at the Pentagon for the Department of the Navy, then for the U.S. Air Force in Taiwan, then as a bookkeeper Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, Il., Lynn Funiture and Illinois Power. Mary Jane was a member of the Stapleton Church of Christ. She loved St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, was an active member of the Book Club at Freeman, Duenweg Volunteer Fireman Wives and she and her husband served as host parents for USA Baseball.

She married Johnnie Moore in July, 1960, he preceded her in death on December 11, 1981. She then married Don Johnson on September 3, 1988 in Joplin, he survives. Additional survivors include two daughters; Marci Reeves and husband Kent of Collinsville, Il., Laura Kesler and husband Jeff of Duenweg, Mo., five sons; Marc Moore and wife Dawn of Sparta, Il., Patrick Moore and wife Brodi of Kawkawlin, Mi, Don Johnson, and wife Lawanna of Pittsburg, Ks., Keith Johnson and wife Rene of Riverton, Ks., Greg Johnson and wife Kim of Joplin, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie, her parents, a brother, Lowell Benjamin, and by a sister, Ruth Ann Benjamin.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday July 15, 2015 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, Gail West, will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the start of the service starting at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mary Jane is to be cremated following the service and will be buried at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, Il., with a graveside service scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Caledonia Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
