Lahoma Curnutte

Lahoma Geneva Shelton Speed Curnutte age 87 of Jay, Ok. passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the Grand Lake Villa in Grove, Ok.

Lahoma was born on September 16, 1927 in Earlsboro, Ok. the daughter of John and Okie (Yelvington) Shelton. She has been a lifetime area resident, Lahoma worked as a nurses’ aide in nursing homes in Joplin, Mo., Miami, Ok., Shawnee, Ok. and Wilburton, Ok. She enjoyed working in her garden in her free time.

She is survived by one son; David Speed and wife Christy of Grove, one daughter; Anita Price of Huntsville, Ar., one brother; Kenny Shelton, Sr. and wife Ruth Ann of Galena, Ks., one sister; Naomi June Kimbrough and husband Donald Wayne of Diamond, Mo., 3 grandchildren, John David Moback, David W. Speed, Christina Faust, and 8 great-grandchildren. Lahoma was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson, William “Bill” Speed.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m.

Arrangements have entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
