(From Buchanan Funeral Home)We mourn the passing of Jean Zebert-Kutz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, who departed this world on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 95. Jean was born on August 7, 1930, in Wentworth, MO, to the late Frank and Marie (Mettlach) Landoll.
Jean graduated from Pierce City High School in 1948 and began her journey of love and family life when she married Richard Francis Zebert on July 17, 1948, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wentworth. After Richard's passing, Jean found love once more with LaVerne Anthony Kutz, whom she married on June 14, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City.
A devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Jean's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was known for her grace, kindness, and loving spirit, touching the hearts of all she met. Jean's passion for dancing and artistic talent illuminated the lives of many.
Jean leaves behind a cherished legacy carried on by her daughters, Linda Zebert (Roger), Janice Wade (Stan), Rosie Bertschy, Lesa Zebert; and her sons, Michael Zebert (Sheila), Larry Zebert (Dionne). She also leaves behind her step-children, Tony Kutz (Claudia), Tom Kutz, Joe Kutz, David Kutz (Patty), Doris Kutz-Compton (Rob), Donna Rader (Carl), Regina Alderton and Annette Schippel; her nieces, Pat Stotts, Trish Gorman and Kay Gorman-Lewis; her nephew, John Gorman; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family.
Jean was reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Frank and Marie Landoll, her beloved husbands, Richard Zebert and LaVerne Kutz, her son-in-law Jerry Bertschy, grandson Jason Bertschy, as well as her siblings who have gone before her.
To know her was to love her. She was a woman of strength, love, and grace, Jean has left an indelible mark on this world and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City. Father Sanoop Thomas will be officiating. Interment will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pulaskifield. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening, January 19th, at the church with Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in memory of Jean. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
