Jettie Forehand

Jettie Louise Forehand, 96, of Pittsburg, KS passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Via Christi Village of Pittsburg, KS. She was born September 6, 1929 to Charles V. and Lois Louise (Hall) Ellers in Memphis, TN.

Jettie attended high school in New Orleans, LA, where she graduated in 1947. She also attended business college in New Orleans, LA for one and a half years. On December 7, 1947, Jettie was united in marriage with Buddy "Bill" William Forehand in Tupelo, MS, and they were married for 49 and a half years. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1996.

Jettie was devoted to her family and her Baptist faith. She assisted Bill as he pastored the Pittsburg Baptist Temple for 29 years. Jettie had a ministry working with the children, as she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church. She also enjoyed her role with the Vacation Bible School and Bible Camp. Jettie worked at Sears as a Collections Correspondent for over 25 years before retirement in March of 1981.

Jettie traveled the world with Bill and the missionaries who served with their church. She enjoyed biking across Kansas in her younger years. One of Jettie's favorite works was making bibles for the Crossroads Baptist Church for their missionary program. 

Jettie is survived by her two sons; Thomas M. Forehand of Joplin, MO and Steven E. Forehand of Pittsburg, KS, two grandchildren; Thomas W. Forehand and his wife Kelly of Brighton, CO and Sonni M. Potts and her husband James of Joplin, MO, four great-grandchildren; Ross and Roxie Forehand, and Alex and Halle Potts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. B. W. Forehand; her parents, Charles and Lois Ellers; her brother, Charles “Eddie” Ellers; and two daughter-in-law’s, Debbie Forehand (Tom) and Patricia Forehand (Steve).

A visitation will take place Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Brenner Mortuary chapel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private graveside service will follow.
