(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Deborah Kay Thomas, 69, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026. Deborah was born September 20, 1957, in Carthage, Missouri, to Bob and Velma (Thorn) Mitchell. She graduated from Sarcoxie High School with the “Class of 1975”. Deborah was involved in band during high school.
Through the years, she worked on and off as a waitress. Deborah loved spending time with her grandson, Justin. She really enjoyed all things ELVIS. She was a lifelong resident in the Jasper County area.
Deborah attended Bethany Baptist Church in Carthage.
Deborah is survived by her son, Joseph “Joe” Thomas and his wife, Heather, of Carthage; her grandson, Justin Thomas, also of Carthage; a sister, Ginger Teed and her husband, Jonathan, of Sarcoxie, Missouri; niece, Katie Wommack and her husband, Nick, of Reeds, Missouri; nephew, T.J. Teed of Carthage; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Deborah is preceded by parents, Bob (April 10, 2002) and Velma (March 30, 2023); and her sister, Peggy Mitchell (September 5, 2015).
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Jasper Schools Cemetery in Reeds, Missouri.
