(From Parker Mortuary)John Walter Davidson II, also known to his family and friends as JW, passed away on September 26, 2026, in his lifelong hometown of Joplin, Missouri. He was 43 years old.
Born in Joplin, JW was a man whose life was truly defined by his big heart and his deep devotion to his family. Though he held various jobs throughout his life, the role he cherished above all others was being a dad. He was an incredibly caring father, and his absolute greatest pride and joy were his two sons, Luke and Evan.
When he wasn't spending time with his boys, JW had a vibrant array of passions. He loved being in the great outdoors, finding peace and enjoyment in golfing, fishing, and hunting. He was a massive sports fan; he especially loved cheering loudly for his beloved Kansas City Chiefs on football Sundays, often while firing up the smoker or the grill. JW also enjoyed his downtime at home, whether he was watching movies, playing video games, or adding to his cherished book collection. Additionally, he had a deep respect for and dedication to studying various martial arts. This discipline tied perfectly into one of the greatest life lessons he imparted to his sons: his advice to always have "mental toughness" to help guide them through whatever challenges life brings.
Above all his hobbies and interests, JW will be remembered for the person he was: a wonderfully loving man who brought warmth and care to the people around him. His most enduring legacy is the profound, unconditional love he had for his boys.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, John W. and Brenda L. Davidson. JW's memory and spirit will be carried on by his beloved sons, Luke N. Davidson and Evan B. Davidson; his brother, Jason E. Swoveland; his loyal dog, Ronin; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
Details regarding a memorial service to celebrate JW's life are currently pending and will be announced by the family at a later date.
