Millard Hull

Mr. Millard Cecil Hull, 76, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Friday morning, June 24, 2016, at his residence after months of declining health.

Millard entered his life on February 6, 1940, in Auburn, Nebraska, one of three sons born to the late Marian Cecil and Vivian (Patton) Hull. He was raised and attended School in Wheaton, Missouri. After high school he enlisted and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. On May 10, 1968, in Cassville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Velma Pauline Hansen and to this union a daughter and son were born. In 1971 they moved their family to Steel City, Nebraska and Millard attended agricultural school. After leaving Steel City in 1981, they resided in Jenkins, Aurora and Cassville, Missouri before settling in Noel, Missouri in 1985. Millard was a proud and hardworking farmer, who enjoyed every aspect of living life on the farm. He loved the hills and rivers of McDonald County and took every advantage of the wonderful hunting and fishing that this area has to offer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of forty-three years, Velma Hull on December 27, 2011.

Millard is survived by his two children, Sally Milton and husband, David, of Anderson, Missouri and Mike Hull and wife, Paula, also of Anderson; five grandchildren, Ashley Milton, Taylor Milton, Shanna Hull, Boe Milton and Mark Hull; a great granddaughter, Zaydee Milton; two brothers, Lyman and Richard Hull; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Jimmy Webb

Jimmy Don Webb, age 58, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

Jimmy was born on April 28, 1958 in Neosho, Missouri, to the late Jimmy Dale Webb and Barbara Jean (Richards) Webb. Jimmy later resided in Udall, Kansas, and Wichita, Kansas, before returning back to the Joplin area with his family. He was a 1976 graduate of Parkwood High School in Joplin. Jimmy worked in production at Tamko Building Products in Joplin and retired after 18 years. He greatly enjoyed visiting antique stores, canoeing at the creek and working in his yard. Jimmy recently started attending Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Church in Joplin, which he greatly enjoyed. He was often seen with a little shadow behind him, who is known as his grandson, Gauge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Allen Shellenberger; and his former wife, Angela Yeakey.

Jimmy is survived by two sons, Brian Webb and spouse, Hollie Sterling, and Jason Webb and wife, Linda Jones, both of Joplin, Missouri; a daughter, Misty Pietrzak, and husband, Brad Cooley, of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Gail Bowman and husband, Norman, of Wichita, Kansas, and Karen Swain and husband, Keith, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Brian Scott Webb, and wife, Renee, of Joplin, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Lexi Webb, Libby Webb, Rowdy Webb, Sunshine Webb, Matthew McLean, Gauge Webb, Austin Stapleton, Logan Sterling and Alyx Jones; and his special “lady friend”, Kriste Hall. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family is holding a memorial gathering to celebrate Jimmy’s life from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, 820 N. Schifferdecker, in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.

Joan Baslee

Joan Elayne Baslee, 68, of Lamar, MO passed away June 28, 2016. 

She was born February 8, 1948 in Lamar to Arthur and Ruth (Miller) Banwart. Joan attended school in Lamar Schools then Liberal High School graduating in the top of her class in 1966. She graduated from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in 1969. She worked at Dade County Memorial Hospital and Barton County Memorial Hospital as an RN. 

She married Teal Baslee June 10, 1972 in Jericho Springs, MO. Together they raised two sons Kevin and Craig. Joan had many hobbies she raised dogs, enjoyed gardening, embroidery and writing poetry. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She attended Lamar Family Ministries. 

She is survived by her husband Teal, sons Kevin and wife Julie, of Lamar, MO and Craig and wife Rebekah, of Neosho, MO; four grandchildren; Jenna Baslee, Taylor Pritchard, Grant Baslee and Carter Baslee, her brother Gene Banwart and wife Linda of Liberal, MO and sister Gail Strahm and husband Phil of Glenrose, TX. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Landon Baslee.

Greg Connelly

Greg Raymond Connelly, 34, Seneca, MO, passed away June 19, 2016 suddenly.

Greg Raymond Connelly was born December 28, 1981 in Neosho, MO the son of John and Isabell (Sandoval) Connelly. Greg graduated from Seneca High School in 2000 and went on to get his Associate Degree at Crowder College. Greg worked for G & W Foods in Seneca, MO.

Survivors include his mother and father John and Isabel Connelly, Seneca; three sisters, Leta Chandler, Seneca, Jo Anne Connelly, Eufaula, OK and Tina Connelly, Seneca; two brothers John Connelly Seneca and Danny Connelly, Des Moines, IA and a host of friends.

Graveside services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Seneca Cemetery with Bro. Kelly Sampson officiating.

Rodney Camren

Rodney Lee Camren, age 47 of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home. Rodney is survived by his loving partner of 10 years Michael A. Rumph.

Rodney was born in Coffeyville, Kansas. After graduating from Seneca High School in 1987, he enlisted in the United States Army where he became a Paratrooper in Fort Bragg, North Carolina (35th Signal Brigade). He then served in the Gulf War, with an MOS Brigade Budget and Supply S-4. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Rodney attended Central Piedmont Community College and then Queens University of Charlotte where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Rodney then entered the world of real estate, excelling in marketing himself, selling homes as well as teaching classes in his Keller Williams Midtown office.

Rodney was a vibrant individual who lit up every room. He never met a stranger and always fought for the underdog. His attitude for always seeing the bright side of things was contagious, and his distinctive laugh was infectious; always bringing a smile to anyone around. He sought every opportunity do better in life, making his home, family, community and work environment better for all. He truly lived his life by the philosophy of, “I have one life to live and I will live it to the fullest, in a positive, loving and unapologetic way.”

Rodney is also survived by his parents, C.A. and Merrilyn Terry of Carthage, MO; his siblings, Melissa George of Joplin, MO; Misty Dalton and her husband Billy of Reeds, MO; Matt Terry and his wife Heather of Carl Junction, MO; Ryan Terry and his companion Nicole of Seneca, MO; as well as 6 nieces, 4 nephews, and 1 great-nephew.

Michael and Rodney’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the countless number of people who have reached out during this difficult time, sharing stories of happiness, love and laughter that Rodney brought to all of our lives.

A service celebrating and honoring Rodney’s life will be held at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, July 2nd, 2016 at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy. Lawrenceville, GA 30046. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1st from 4 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home.

A service will also be held at 10 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 at Seneca Assembly of God Church, 2310 Cherokee Ave. Seneca, MO 64865, with interment and Military honors at Gallemore Cemetery on K Hwy in Racine, MO. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 5th from 7 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the evening at Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home 1101 Cherokee Ave, Seneca, MO 64865.

It would have been Rodney’s wish that all who attend services wear bright colors, bring their smiles and share in laughter.

Wilma Wetzel

Wilma Jean Wetzel, 86, Hart, MO, passed into eternal rest June 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Wilma Jean Chester was born August 8, 1929 in Seneca, MO. She was a member of the Hart Baptist Church and a former member of Tops. Wilma formerly was a school teacher.

Wilma Jean Chester married Hugh “Bud” Henry Wetzel June 17, 1951 in Bentonville, AR and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by one daughter Debbie Wetzel.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Wetzel and wife Shelley, Seneca and Douglas Wetzel and Joanne, Goodman; one daughter, Mary Rogers and husband Doug, Goodman; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am July 5, 2016 at the Hart Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11am. Burial will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery with Chris Rogers, Travis Wetzel, Chad Wetzel, Wade Wetzel, Bryan Miller, Wade Miller, Wesley Miller and William Haun serving as pallbearers.

Lois Surber

Lois Evelyn (Andrew) Surber, Webb City, MO, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 after a short illness at Joplin Gardens in Joplin, MO. Born August 22, 1927, in Spring Hill, Ia., she attended Mt. Hope School and graduated with a class of five.

A child of the Great Depression and a farming family, she married her high school sweetheart, Dale E. Surber, in 1948, shortly after he returned from serving in the U.S. military in Korea, and they were married nearly 43 years before Dale passed away July 24, 1991 on Table Rock Lake.

They lived most of their lives in Indianola, Ia., but also on Table Rock Lake in Lakeview, Mo., Hialeah, Fla., and Kansas City, Mo., for shorter periods. After her husband’s death, Lois lived a short time in West Des Moines, Ia., and then moved to Webb City, Mo.

She was a loving housewife and mother of three, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was an award-winning Avon Sales representative for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by parents Catherine and Merrell Andrew, husband, son Roger, and brothers George, Richard, and Gerald.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Rod) Logan, Hamilton Square, NJ; Rodney (Rae) Surber, Webb City, MO; six grandchildren, Marni (Tom) Adam, Fairfield, IA; Scott White, Eldon, MO, Rodney (Molly) Logan, Burlington, NJ; Robert “Bud” Logan (Donna), Glen Burnie, MD; Austin (Cassie) Surber, Oronogo, MO; and Ashley (Rusty) Landon, Fairland, OK, 11 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Indianola, Ia., I.O.O.F. Cemetery on July 16, 2016.
