Pam Purscelley

Pamela (Pam) F. Purscelley, age 60, of Fairland, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her home. She was born on January 16, 1962 to Floyd and Phyllis (Grayson) Bruton in Miami, Oklahoma.

Pam was a lifelong resident of Commerce Oklahoma. She graduated from Commerce High School and then attended Northeast Oklahoma Vo-Tech and earned her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Pam was preceded in death by her brother Russell Lee Bruton. 








Left to cherish her memory, her parents Floyd and Phyllis Bruton of the home, daughters Stephany Littlejohn and husband Andrew and Mariah Dunkel and husband Dusty, all of Fairland, Oklahoma; brother Michael (Brenda) Bruton of Joplin, Missouri and sister Carolyn (David) McCord of Miami, Oklahoma; her nephew but more like a son Adam (Kara) Bruton; grandchildren who were the loves of her life: Jalen, Gracin, Jaxon, Bentlee, Daxten, Emeryn, and Colson; nieces and nephews, Keith, Alicia Tara, Hannah, 14 great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Memorial Service will be at Paul Thomas Chapel in Commerce, Oklahoma at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Wanda Madl

Wanda J. Madl, 89, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on May 24, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a resident of Pittsburg the majority of her life.

Wanda was born on May 16, 1933 to Lester Ewan and Dorothy (McClelland) Ewan in St. Paul, Kansas. She married Robert Madl on May14, 1955 at St. Michael's Church in Girard, Kansas.









Wanda worked at Holiday Lanes in Pittsburg, Kansas for over 40 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

She is survived by her husband Robert Madl of Pittsburg, KS; one son, Ken Madl of Pittsburg, KS; two sister, Marilyn Willis of Omaha, NE, and Mary Ellen Gress of Kentucky; four brothers, James Ewan of Parsons, KS, Bill Ewan of Diamond, MO, Merle Ewan and Richard Ewan both of St Paul, KS; three granddaughters, Kelly Green of Girard, KS, Rebecca VanBecelaere of Pittsburg, KS, and Jessica Madl of Joplin, MO; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Grace VanBecelaere both of Pittsburg, KS; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Hunter Newcomb both of Pittsburg, KS.








Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Ray Ewan, Leroy Ewan, Charles Ewan, and Milton Ewan; and two sisters, Frances Payton and Patricia Moore.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Brenner Mortuary from 6:30-7:30 PM.
 Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.

Loydine Hulsey

Loydine L. Hulsey, Neosho, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2022, at the age of 103. Loydine was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Neosho, the eldest of ten children to Loyd E. and Viola E. (Land) Jeffers. She was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. 

Loydine was a loving and Christian wife, mother, and nanny. She enjoyed to bicycle, hike, cooking and taking care of her family and sharing her love of the Lord with others. 









Loydine was saved at the age of 9 and was a lifetime member of Northside Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and served on various committees. 

On April 29, 1939, in Neosho, Missouri, Loydine married Bill L. Hulsey and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2015, after 76 years of marriage. 

Loydine is survived by two children, Ruth Ann Campbell and husband, Bill and Billy D. Hulsey and wife, Karen, all of Neosho; one sister, Janice Mitchell of Anderson; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great great granddaughters. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Bruce, Edward, and Jerry and four sisters, Virginia, Dorothy, Rosalee and Betty. 








Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 2 pm at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Brother Pat Jeffers and Chaplain Joe Morris will officiate.

Harriett Kern

Harriett J. Kern, 94, of Joplin, formerly of Girard, died on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at College View Manor in Joplin.

Harriett was born September 29, 1927 in Treece, Kansas, the daughter of Ira and Agnes (Morrell) Black. At an early age her family moved to Fulton, Kansas and she attended schools there.

Harriett married Clarence A. “Cotton” Kern, Jr. on August 25, 1946 in Mound City, Kansas. Cotton preceded her in death on January 17, 1996.








Harriett worked at Midwest Minerals as a secretary and later at the Girard Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist. She volunteered at St. John’s, now Mercy Hospital, in Joplin.

Harriett was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard and she enjoyed her family, traveling, attending her granddaughter’s Quarter Horse shows, and Mirza Shrine functions.

Survivors include her son, Rodney A. Kern, and his wife, Sandy, of Burns, Tennessee, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Harriett was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl J. Kinnear, and her brother, Howard Black.

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott with Pastor Scott Bennett officiating.








Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.

Teddy Sager

Teddy M. Sager, age 85, of Granby, Missouri, passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri. He was born June 14, 1936, in Mullinville, Kansas, the son of the late George Harold and Marcie May (McKeever) Sager. 

Teddy retired from United States Navy and following his retirement started his own cabinet shop. His signature was to inset a penny, with the year the piece was made, in each custom cabinet he made. Teddy was always finding creative outlets. He created jewelry, and also did wood carving. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed.






 

Teddy was a faithful member of the St. Canera Catholic Church.

He is survived by his companion, Ruth Waterhouse of Granby; one sister, Darlene Locke of Aurora, Colorado; three nephews; and a host of family and friends.

There are no services planned.

Tommy Lewis

Tommy Joe Lewis, age 79, Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Spring River Christian Village, Joplin, MO.

He was born February 1, 1943, in Baxter Springs, KS, to the Late Walter Lewis and Virnena Bradley Lewis.

Tommy worked as a Machinist for Vickers Manufacturing. He was an avid fisherman.









In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, two brothers, Carl Lewis and Walter Lewis, JR. two sisters, Barbara McLean and Doris Ellen Lewis; one daughter, Sherri Cosper; one stepdaughter, Lorena Daxaca; and one great grandson, Joshua Scott Daniel, JR.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lewis, of the home; two sons, Billy Lewis, Pineville, MO. and Shawn Lewis and wife, Julie, Baxter Springs; two daughters, Tina Long and husband, Matthew, Anderson, MO. and Angie Beaudry and husband, Tim, Pineville, MO; stepson, Gary Burke and wife, Lori; stepdaughter, Tina Lapish and Debbie Mayes and husband, John; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Derfelt Funeral Home, Baxter Springs, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Lowell Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS.

Gary Pearman

Gary Wayne Pearman, age 79, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 2:12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 20, 1942, in Neosho to the late Vincent and Helen (Macy) Pearman. 

Gary graduated from Neosho High School in 1960. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1964 with degrees in business and marketing. Furthering his education, Gary obtained his real-estate and broker’s license in the 1970s.








Gary had a long career in sales. He started with Swift and Company and then worked for Burroughs Office Equipment, Razor West, a distributor of Snapper Mowers, and eventually purchased Blue Ribbon Real Estate in 1986. He owned and operated Blue Ribbon Real Estate for approximately 30 years. 

During this time, Gary raised cattle and enjoyed trading and selling real estate, cattle, and land. He later partnered with Bob Lasswell Auction Services selling many properties in the area at auctions.

His philanthropic services were endless. He served a number of terms on the Newton-McDonald County Board of Realtors and was active on the state level. He was also involved with the Missouri Business Week, raising funds for scholarships. He served on the board of the Talkington Foundation, was a member of the Neosho Chamber of Commerce, NABIFI Neosho, and was a former Neosho Rotarian. 

Gary served on the Neosho Land Development Inc. Board of Directors for a number of years, promoting job growth and economic development for the betterment of the Neosho area. Gary will be remembered for helping young people and promoting education among the youth.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lucy (Arwood) Pearman, of the home; one son, Greg Pearman; one daughter, Janna Jacobs, three stepchildren; Sheila, Jeff, and Dustin Estes; two sisters, Darlene Wolfinbarger and Diane McNeill and her husband, Gary; one brother, Larry Pearman and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Addison and Grant Pearman; Connor, Kacy, and Rachel Jacobs; step-grandchildren, Holli and Chris Lewis, Andrew and Cody Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, his brother-in-law, Jim Wolfinbarger, also preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, with burial following at King Cemetery in Neosho. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the funeral home.
