Tommy Joe Lewis, age 79, Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Spring River Christian Village, Joplin, MO.

He was born February 1, 1943, in Baxter Springs, KS, to the Late Walter Lewis and Virnena Bradley Lewis.

Tommy worked as a Machinist for Vickers Manufacturing. He was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, two brothers, Carl Lewis and Walter Lewis, JR. two sisters, Barbara McLean and Doris Ellen Lewis; one daughter, Sherri Cosper; one stepdaughter, Lorena Daxaca; and one great grandson, Joshua Scott Daniel, JR.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lewis, of the home; two sons, Billy Lewis, Pineville, MO. and Shawn Lewis and wife, Julie, Baxter Springs; two daughters, Tina Long and husband, Matthew, Anderson, MO. and Angie Beaudry and husband, Tim, Pineville, MO; stepson, Gary Burke and wife, Lori; stepdaughter, Tina Lapish and Debbie Mayes and husband, John; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Derfelt Funeral Home, Baxter Springs, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Lowell Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS.
