(From Parker Mortuary)Robert E. “Bob” Bucklin Sr., age 80, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Communities of Wildwood.
Bob was born February 27, 1942 in Greenbriar, West Virginia, son of the late Helen G. Rankin. He grew up in West Virginia, and moved to Joplin in the late 1950’s.
He owned and operated Bucklin’s Furniture located at 1608 S. Main St. in Joplin for over 40 years. He worked as the Project Manager for several chain restaurants doing new construction for their restaurants in several locations. He constructed for Kentucky Fried Chicken and Rib Crib among others, and also help construct several highways throughout the United States. Early in his adult life he was a Police Officer with the Joplin Police Department.
He loved being outdoors hunting or fishing, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the 12th Street Church of Christ. He loved being with family, especially his grandchildren telling stories of the past. He will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his mother, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Esta Lee Bucklin on July 19, 2018, and two sons, Robert, Jr. and Matthew.
Survivors include his children, Scott Bucklin of Osage Beach, Missouri, Shelly Tridle and husband Mike of Frontenac, Kansas, and Kim See and husband Scott of Carl Junction, Missouri; grandchildren, Alexis Rowe (Ty), Laken Robinson, Avery Hipfl, Bradlee See (Amber), Nathan See, Lacey Bucklin, Branden Bucklin, Caitlyn Brown, and Tyler Brown; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 12:00 noon at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Darryl Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stella, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the 12th Street Church of Christ care of Parker Mortuary.
